Where your data lives
A Syncture account holds two kinds of data. Your Revit files, and the records that organise them, such as names, paths, shares and invoices. For an account created in Europe, both are stored in the European Union.
What is kept where
- Revit files
Cloudflare R2. An account created in Europe is held under Cloudflare's EU jurisdiction, a contractual guarantee that the files stay in the European Union. Accounts created elsewhere are stored in the United States, Asia-Pacific or Oceania, near the people using them.
- Names and records
Folder and model names, file paths, shares and invoices, in one Cloudflare D1 database created under the EU jurisdiction. It runs and stores its data inside the European Union, for every account.
- Workspace key
Only in a workspace created with encryption on. It is generated in your browser and kept on your own Windows machines, and Syncture never receives it.
- Requests
Every request travels over HTTPS to the Cloudflare data centre nearest the person, wherever they are, which reads from the storage above.
- Sign-in
An emailed code, or Microsoft or Google if you choose them. They learn that you signed in, and nothing about your projects.
- The business
Syncture is run from Vienna by an Austrian sole proprietor, under Austrian and EU law.
What the EU jurisdiction covers
For an account created in Europe, it covers everything Syncture stores. The files, and every name, path, share and invoice about them.
For an account created elsewhere, the files stay in its own region, near its people, and the records stay in the European Union.
The jurisdiction is a restriction Cloudflare applies to the bucket and the database themselves. It holds whichever of its data centres is in use.
Who can reach it
Cloudflare runs the website, the database and the storage, and is the one company processing your files for Syncture. It is based in the United States.
Any transfer outside the EEA rests on an adequacy decision where one applies, and otherwise on the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Production access exists to run the service and to answer support requests you raise. Nothing you publish trains anything.
In a workspace created with encryption on, file contents are unreadable to Syncture and to Cloudflare. Names, paths and sizes stay readable in both kinds of workspace.
Moving it, or taking it along
An account stays in the region it was created in. One placed in the wrong region is moved on request, into the EU included.
One command writes your whole account to a folder on disk, as ordinary Revit files.
Deleting a folder deletes its bytes from storage. Database rows can outlive a deletion by up to thirty days, inside the platform's recovery window.
